Walmart’s answer to Amazon Prime will launch this month. It’s a subscription service called Walmart+ and (to Jeff Bezos’s dismay) it’s cheaper than Amazon Prime.

  • Walmart+ memberships will cost $98/year.
  • Amazon Prime memberships cost $119/year.

Walmart+ memberships will include same-day delivery of groceries (this one is really nice), fuel discounts at gas stations, and early access to sales and promotions.

Let’s check out the competition: Since Amazon launched Prime about 15 years ago, it’s grown to more than 150 million members. With a Prime membership, customers get fast and free shipping, access to Amazon’s streaming service, and discounts at Whole Foods.

While Walmart has made efforts to grow its e-commerce business, it’s still lagging behind Amazon.

  • Amazon is valued at about $1.5 trillion
  • Walmart is valued at about $360 billion

The one place Walmart has an advantage over Amazon? Groceries. And as the pandemic continues to dramatically increase demand for grocery delivery, Walmart just might stand a chance again Amazon.

It seems Walmart+ is Primed and ready.
