In case your days are all blending together because you haven’t left your home in four months, its July! And with the July Fourth holiday quickly approaching, people are stocking up on picnic food, anxiety medication for their dogs, and at-home fireworks.

Firework sales are booming.

Firework sellers say they are seeing huge gains in firework sales, with some seeing jumps of 200% to 300% in sales. Even more demand is expected in the days leading up to July Fourth.

“On the consumer side, sales are off the hook,” said Julie Heckman, president of the American Pyrotechnics Association. “This will be an all-time high.”

Here’s why: Covid-19 has prompted the cancellation of thousands of large fireworks displays to celebrate Independence Day. But many Americans still want to get their patriotic fix, so more people than ever are resorting to at-home firework usage.

In other words, Covid-19 has everyone (fire)working from home.
